Baby Names from the Family Tree?

We have a son, Joel Michael, who has the same initials as my husband. Now we need to pick out another name, and as all of our names are "J" names, my in-laws insist that our second child must have a "J" name too.

Additionally, we would like to pick names from our family tree. I like Jackson Alexander for a boy’s name (he would then have the same initials as me), but we don’t like any of the girl "J" names from our family tree.

We have lots of "A" names from the family tree to use as middle names: Adeline, Amalia, Angela, Ann, Almyra, Abigail, Arvilla, and Amanda (although I don’t like the last two).

We’re going to have to pick a non-family-tree name for the "J" first name. I kind of like Jillian but am open to suggestions.

What "J" girl names can you think of that goes good with any of those "A" middle names? Thanks!
I figured I’d go ahead and give you the "J" names from the family tree just in case: Josephine, Juliette (my favorite of the six), Judia, Jemima, Jane, and Jennie. I could also change one of the boy "J" names into a girl name, like turning John into Johnna, although I don’t like that name either.

Well, out of the "J" names in your family tree, I do really love Josephine, Juliette, and Jane.

As for some suggestions, I love…
Joliet — similar to Juliet, and sounds nearly the same. It’s a town in Alaska, actually.

Jianna — This is kind of a different spelling of Gianna which can be pronounced either jahn-uh or jee-ahn-uh. I think it’s a gorgeous name.

Jasey / Jacey — It’s the name of one of my best friends, so I’m a bit biased…

Jael — It’s a hebrew name that can be pronounced either yah-el (yah as in "yacht") or jay-el. I definitely prefer the second, since pronouncing it the first way would make it an alternate spelling to the name Yael.

Josette — It’s a French diminutive to Josephine.

Jesper — Kind of manly… it’s the French variation of Jasper.

Jora (or Jory) — I love the meaning of Jora (autumn rain).

Jillian — Yes, you suggested this one. I love it. It’s on my list also. Again, I’m a bit partial to it because of a Jillian that I know, plus I’m a big fan of Jillian from the Biggest Loser, and the Jillian that was on the Bachelor and is now going to be the next Bachelorette.

Joanna /or Johanna — I love Joanna because of my aunt, JoAnne. I also have a great aunt with this name…. I think Johanna is gorgeous, also.

As far as middle names go, I like…
Joliet Adeline or Joliet Amalia
Jianna Almyra or Jianna Adeline
Jasey (or other spellings) Ann or Jacey Abigail
Jael Adeline or Jael Amalia
Josette Angeline (I know, I improvised) or Josette Almyra
Jesper Angela or Jesper Abigail
Jora Adeline or Jory Ann or Jora/Jory Almyra
Jillian Amalia or Jillian Abigail
Joanna Adeline or Johanna Almyra

Overall, I’m a big fan of Adeline… :)

Well, I hope I helped and good luck!

First of all, your in-laws don’t get to "insist" that you use a certain kind of name. They had their chance to name their kids and now it’s your turn. They have no business interfering in your decision.

Jillian is pretty and would work well with those middle names. Some other J names:

Jessica
Jessenia
Jessamyn
Julia or Julianna
Jordan
Jane/Jayne
Jaina/Jayna
Jeana/Jeanna
Johanna
Jovanna
Jennifer
Jenna
Jacey/Jaci

Hope I helped :)

First off, it’s not up to the in-laws to tell you what initial to use, but I do see their point that the second child might feel left out at times.

You said you don’t like the J girl names on the family tree, but are there some that you could alter a bit to your liking? For example, Jane could become Jana, or jenna or Jan. Julia could become Juliet, Julie, Julianne.

Once You pick out the J girl first name, try your A names with it.

Definitely Juliette! It’s so pretty and sweet, and I think definitely the best name of the bunch. I also like Jane, but Juliette is a less common.

Juliette Adeline is my favorite combination. Juliette Amalia sounds gorgeous too.

Other suggestions – (but I still vote for Juliette!)

Jacinda or Jacinta
Jessamine
Julia
Jeanette
June
Juniper
Jolie

By the way, Jackson Alexander sounds awesome. Joel and Jackson, or Joel and Juliette (even though I’m not really a fan of alliterated sibling names) sound cute.
